Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: The negative thought patterns quietly holding people back from reaching their potential.

May 18, 20263 min read

When I launched my free 30-minute webinar, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, I honestly hoped it would resonate with people. What I didn’t expect was for it to sell out completely a week in advance.

And to me, that says something important: A lot of people are struggling with the way they talk to themselves.

Not just in their personal lives.
Not just in fitness.
But in leadership, careers, relationships, and everyday life.

I see it all the time with personal training and coaching clients. People will say things like:

  • “I’ll never be that skinny again.”

  • “There’s no way I could lift that.”

  • “I’m too far gone.”

  • “I always fail.”

And I see the exact same thing happen in corporate environments:

  • “I’m not smart enough.”

  • “They would never promote me.”

  • “I’m not leadership material.”

  • “I can’t apply for that job. I’m not qualified.”

The environments may look different, but the root problem is often the same:

People start believing the story their fear tells them. And over time, those thoughts become limitations.

The truth is, many people aren’t lacking talent, intelligence, capability, or potential. They’re lacking belief, and when negative thought patterns go unchecked long enough, they don’t just affect confidence; they can undermine it. They affect behavior.

People stop applying.
Stop trying.
Stop speaking up.
Stop leading.
Stop growing.

Not because they can’t…
But because somewhere along the way, they convinced themselves they couldn’t.

5 Things I Want You to Know If You’re Struggling With Self-Doubt

1. Your Thoughts Are Powerful

The thoughts we repeat consistently shape our emotions, behaviors, and decisions. Your brain is constantly listening to the story you tell yourself.

2. Confidence Is Built, Not Born

Most confident people weren’t born fearless. Confidence is built through action, repetition, and proving to yourself that you can handle hard things.

3. Negative Thinking Often Sounds “Logical.”

Self-doubt doesn’t usually scream. It whispers:

  • “Be realistic.”

  • “Don’t embarrass yourself.”

  • “You’re probably not ready.”

That’s why so many people mistake fear for truth.

4. Leaders Have More Influence Than They Realize

If you’re a leader, your words matter. Employees often borrow confidence, or insecurity, from the environments around them. A leader who constantly criticizes, micromanages, or dismisses ideas can unintentionally reinforce self-doubt in their teams.

At the same time, leaders who encourage growth, recognize effort, and create psychological safety often help people see potential in themselves that they couldn’t see before.

5. You Don’t Have to Believe Every Thought You Think

One of the most life-changing things I ever learned is this: Thoughts are not facts.

You can challenge them. Reframe them. Replace them.
And over time, create healthier mental patterns that support growth instead of fear.

Final Thoughts

The fact that this webinar sold out tells me something hopeful: People want change.

They want to stop living trapped by fear, insecurity, and limiting beliefs. They want confidence.
Growth.
Resilience.
And a healthier relationship with themselves.

And honestly? That work changes everything. Because when people start changing the way they think…
They often start changing the way they live.

If this message resonates with you, or if you’re a leader trying to help employees step into their potential, I’ll be hosting the full 60-minute version of Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life on Tuesday, June 9th, from 12:30-1:30 PM EDT.

The original 30-minute webinar completely sold out, which tells me one thing loud and clear: People are hungry for tools that help them overcome negative thinking, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs.

If you’re ready to challenge the stories holding you back and start building healthier, more empowering thought patterns, I’d love to have you join us.
